Mentors for newly diagnosed families

We all know that the first diagnosis can be a difficult time. Once you get over the shock you’re left with an enormous amount of info and probably, a lot of questions.

We have created a network of able and willing “mentors” (families who have been through it all before) who have put their hands up to help. We have a network of first diagnosis mentors across both the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and also the Westmead Children’s Hospital in Westmead.  We can put you in touch with someone who lives or works near you. Whether you have a million questions or just want to have a quiet cuppa with someone who understands what you’re going through, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, you might like to talk dad-to-dad or as a mum you might have specific questions about the newborn stage or how to tackle breastfeeding and enzymes. This is one of those support structures that many of us wish we’d had when we were first diagnosed. The mums and dads on our mentor list are just normal Sydneysiders just like you.

If you’d like to be put in touch with another family to help you during this post-diagnosis time, please contact the appropriate person below.

And remember, as a new parent you’re more than welcome to come to one of our meetings and meet parents that way. Details for the next meeting are always on our homepage.
